I have in my nearly 6 decades on earth seen only a few men as humble and un-assuming as Eddy Atunzu.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Amen.

Eddy it has taken me a good nine days to come to terms that you are dead. The deep sadness I am experiencing at your death is only lightened by your beautiful life and your holy death. The last time I spoke to you before you died, I was consoled by the holy and beautiful disposition of your soul. You were ready to meet your God. May the knowledge that you are now enfolded in the eternal joyful embrace of your God consoled our whole family and all your friends as we grieved with broken hearts at your death. May God grant us the grace he gave you to live a holy life and die a holy death so that we shall one day meet you in the house of our Heavenly Father. Good bye my beautiful and sweet brother. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace Amen.

Your brother
Fr Kevin

My community Umuezenkram Ubahuekwem Ihiala has lost Mr. Edwin Obiefoka Atunzu an illustrious son, and the pride of our people. Death has robbed us of a great man and left a huge hole in our hearts.

Eddy was an exemplary figure as a lot of our youths looked up to him. He was calm, respectful and descent. A gentle man to the core. He was a devout Christian and belonged to many organizations in the church such as St Vincent the Paul, Precious Blood Society and Catholic Men Organization.

Eddy was a good father to his six beautiful children and a great husband to Helen who he loved very dearly. He was the 5th of 13 children of late Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Christiana Atunzu. His birth brought so much joy to his late parents that they named him Obiefoka (expressing the joy that filled their hearts with his birth). Indeed, Eddy was a joy to be around. He was well loved by his late parents, his siblings and his neighbors.. His presence warmed any environment he was in.
The past three years was not easy as I watched my cousin Eddy struggle with his health challenges. His wife and children took good care of him. They did everything humanly possible to keep him alive, but God’s will prevailed. At the end, as a good Christian, Eddy accepted his faith. I recall that during one of my visits to him I was trying to console him but at the end he told me a story that consoled me instead. He said that a seed most rot, then germinate to make new fruits. Therefore, death he said was inevitable for man to go to heaven our sweet home. He took the pain and suffering he endured as sacrifice for atonement of any sin he may have committed as a sinful being. I have no doubt in my mind that he is resting in the bosom of Abraham. So Big Bro, rest easy until we meet to part no more.
